The main two co-products produced at Amaizing Energy are DDGS, also known as Dried Distillers Grains with solubles, and Modified Wet Distillers Grains with Solubles, which is better known as Amaizing Gain, because of the excellent performance of ruminant animals that it is fed to.

DDGS is dried to a moisture content of 10-12% depending on the time of year, and can be fed to beef, dairy, swine, and poultry animals. The high protein and fat content make it a very nutrient dense feed. Because it is produced at what is known as a “New Generation” Ethanol Plant, DDGS have become popular for a wide range of animal species. Samples are taken on a weekly basis and sent to a laboratory to ensure that the quality is not compromised.

The modified product, or Amaizing Gain, has been most popular in the beef cattle feeding segment, although it can be used for dairy animals as well as providing elevated levels of protein and fat, thus reducing supplement costs to the producer. The solubles, or syrup added back to the product give it the extra “goodies” that make for an Amaizing Gain. Besides all of the aforementioned, the cattle love to go to the bunk because of the palatability of the ration. Once cattle go on “Amaizing Gain” you don’t want to take it away from them.

Based on a 40 million gallon facility, approximately 128,000 tons of DDGS, or 256,000 tons of Amaizing Gain will be produced per year. What is the end result of that? The end result is better performance for all of the animals fortunate enough to consume it.
